What’s New in Your New Year?

January 24, 2011

John Allan

February is almost here. Statistically speaking that means many resolutions people made for the new year have already been broken. It also means that time continues to march on. It never does stand still.

In Ephesians 5:15-17 the Apostle Paul told Christians “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (NKJV).

Time is to be used wisely and a wise use of our time will result when we understand what God expects of us and devote ourselves to doing it. You can understand the will of the Lord by a careful study of the Bible. It is in the Bible that God reveals His will to man today.

In addition to reaching much of the Clinton with the House to House, Heart to Heart newsletter we also offer a variety of helpful tools to aid you in studying the Bible. We encourage you to take advantage of any or all of these tools.

What tools am I talking about? Read on to consider a few.

1. Regular Meeting Times: We meet Sunday (9 a.m./10 a.m./ 6 p.m.) and Wednesday (7 p.m.). The Bible is at the forefront in these meetings both in our Bible study hours and during worship because we believe that worship is regulated by what God has authorized in the Bible.

You are our welcome guest at any of our services and we would be pleased to have you join us as we strive to better learn, understand and apply God’s word.

2. Bible Correspondence Courses: If the thought of assembling with a group of strangers is too intimidating of a first step why not try a Bible Correspondence Course? A Bible Correspondence Course is a method that allows you to learn more about the Bible in your own home at your convenience. We pay the postage to mail you the lessons and include postage-paid envelopes for you to mail your completed lessons back in. It really is an effective way to increase your knowledge of the Bible.

If you would like to enroll in a correspondence course please contact us via phone (601-924-5300) or by writing to us with your request. If you are writing to us please be sure to include your mailing address so we can know where to send the lessons! Our mailing address is…

Clinton Church of Christ
155 Broadway St.
Clinton, MS 39056

3. Home Bible Study: If you would rather study with a person instead of using a correspondence course we have living, breathing, caring Christians who are willing to sit down and study God’s word with you. We desire to search the Bible in an honest, open search for the truth. If that sounds good to you, we encourage you to call and schedule a personal Bible study.

4. Radio Ministry: Clinton Church of Christ produces a 30-minute radio program that airs locally on 93.5 FM from 7:30-8 a.m. every Sunday. This is not a radio program piped in from somewhere else: it is recorded each week right here in Clinton. We invite you to listen and welcome sincere questions and comments.

5. Bible Call: The Bible Call telephone library is a 24 hour automated service. If you have a touch-tone phone you can use Bible Call to access hundreds (yes, literally hundreds) of brief lessons on a wide variety of topics. Each lesson goes to the Bible for answers, and lessons deal with matters that are timely and relevant. The phone number for Bible Call is 601-924-3400.

If you would like a list of all lessons available on the Bible Call telephone library please call to request one. If you get our answering machine please leave your request including your name and address so we can mail the brochure to you promptly.

The list above is not exhaustive but should give you an idea of the variety of ways in which we strive to aid individuals in their search for the truth. If you are interested in a better knowledge and understanding of the Bible we are interested in helping you obtain it. Please let us know how we can assist you.
